Is Legal Exception available on the App Store?
Legal Exception is currently available as a public beta through Apple TestFlight only. To install it, you'll need the free TestFlight app (available on the App Store), then use our public beta invitation link.
A full App Store release is planned for later in 2026.
What iOS version do I need?
Legal Exception requires iOS 17.0 or later. On-device AI features (Apple Intelligence) require iOS 18.2+ on an Apple Intelligence-eligible device (iPhone 15 Pro / iPhone 16 family, or iPad with M1 chip or later). If your device does not support Apple Intelligence, the app displays the full knowledge base text directly.
Does the app send my queries to a server?
No. Your research queries are processed entirely on your device using Apple's on-device machine learning frameworks. Query text is never transmitted to Foculoom servers or any third-party server. See our Privacy Policy for full details.
What does the free tier include?
The free tier includes 3 knowledge base lookups per day (browse-only). A Pro subscription unlocks unlimited lookups. Pricing is shown at the time of purchase in the app.
The app said "no match" for my query — why?
Legal Exception only returns results when your query matches an exception or exemption in its verified knowledge base. If your query falls outside the knowledge base, the app returns a "no match" message rather than generating a speculative answer. This is intentional — the app is designed not to hallucinate results. Try rephrasing your query to focus on the specific exception category (for example: "FLSA administrative exemption" rather than "can I exempt this employee from overtime").
How do I cancel my Pro subscription?
Subscriptions are managed entirely through Apple. To cancel: open Settings → [your name] → Subscriptions on your iPhone or iPad, find Legal Exception, and tap Cancel Subscription. You will retain Pro access through the end of the current billing period.
I found incorrect or outdated legal content. How do I report it?
Please use the Contact Support form at the top of this page and include the specific exception name, the result you received, and the correct citation or update. We review all content reports and update the knowledge base in subsequent releases. Thank you for helping keep the content accurate.
